An Act to provide for the abolition of the Office of Commissioner in the Sundarbans.

Whereas it is expedient to abolish the Office of Commissioner in the Sundarbans;

And whereas the previous sanction of the Governor-General has been obtained, under section 5 of the Indian Councils Act, 1892 (55 and 56 Vict, c. 14), to the passing of this Act;

It is hereby enacted as follows:-

Local Extent.- This Act extends only to the Sundarbans.

Section 1. Short title

1. Short title.- This Act may be called the Sundarbans Act, 1905.

Section 3. Collectors to exercises powers and functions of Commissioner in the Sundarbans

3. Collectors to exercises powers and functions of Commissioner in the Sundarbans.- All the powers and functions heretofore vested in, and exercised by, the Commissioner in the Sundarbans in any district shall henceforth be vested in, and exercisable by, the Collector of that district.

Section 4. Construction of references in written instrument

4. Construction of references in written instrument.- In every written instrument relating to land in the Sundarbans executed prior in the commencement of this Act all references to "the Commissioner in the Sundarbans" shall be construed as referring to the Collector of the district in which the land or any part of it is situated.
