An Act to apply certain Punjab Laws to certain institutions, authorities and dignitaries of the State of Haryana.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Haryana in the Seventeenth Year of the Republic of India as follows:
Section 1. Short title
This Act may be called the Punjab Laws (Application) Act, 1966.
Section 2. Definition
In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires Punjab means the territories which, immediately before the 1st day of November, 1966, were comprised in the State of Punjab.
Section 3. Application of laws
(1) The Acts specified in the Schedule as amended up to the 31st October, 1966, and all rules, orders and notifications made thereunder as amended up to that date, pertaining to the institutions, authorities and dignitaries of Punjab shall apply, and shall be deemed always to have applied, in regard to similar instituions, authorities and dignitaries of the State of Haryana.
(2) With effect from the commencement of this Act, the Acts mentioned in the Schedule shall be amended as specified therein.
Section 4. Power to re move difficulties
If any difficulty arises in giving effect in the State of Haryana to the provisions of any Act mentioned in the Schedule, the State Government may, by order notified in the Official Gazette, make such provisions or give such directions, not being inconsistent with any of the provisions of any such Act, as may appear to it to be necessary for the removal of the difficulty.
Section 5. Repeal
(1) The Punjab Laws (Application) Ordinance, 1966, is hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the said Ordinance or under any Act specified in the Schedule appended thereto shall be deemed to have been done or taken under this Act or under the corresponding Act specified in the Schedule appended to this Act, as the case may be, as if this Act had come into force on the 1st day of November, 1966.

(3) In the second proviso to sub-clause (ii) of clause (b) of section 4, for the word Punjab, substitute the word Haryana . (4) Omit section 7. |
