Madras City Police (Second Amendment) Act, 1995*

An Act further to amend the Madras City Police Act, 1888
Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Tamil Nadu in the Forty-sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
Section 1. Short title and commencement
1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Madras City Police (Second Amendment) Act, 1995.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
Section 2. Substitution of section 35
2. Substitution of section 35.- For section 35 of the Madras City Police Act, 1888 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), the following section shall be substituted, namely:-
"35. Eating houses, hotels, fencing-schools, etc., to be licensed.-No enclosed place or building shall be used as an eating-house, coffee-house, boarding-house lodging-house, hotel, gymnasium or fencing-school without a licence obtained from the Commissioner:
Provided that nothing in this section shall apply to any ??? or fencing-school of any educational institution controlled or recognised by the State Government."
Section 3. Amendment of section 36
3. Amendment of section 36.- In section 36 of the principal Act, the proviso shall be omitted.
