Sheel Nagu, J.:— In this petition u/Art. 226 of the Constitution petitioners seek protection of their life, liberty and dignity arising out of the factual scenario that the petitioner No. 1-Smt. Poonam alias Poonibai being major aged 25 years based upon her Samagra I.D. vide P/1 is in live-in relationship with petitioner No. 2 aged about 20 years based upon his Aadhar card reflecting his date of birth as 01.01.2000 on their own volition.
2. It is urged that petitioners' live-in relationship has invoked ire of relatives of petitioner No. 1 who may take extreme step of honour killing in retaliation of the societal indignation faced by them.
3. Reliance is placed on the decision of Apex Court in the case of Lata Singh v. State of U.P. reported in (2006) 5 SCC 475 and the fact that the concept of live-in relationship has now received statutory recognition by the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005.

This petition is, thus, disposed of with a direction that if protection is sought by the petitioners against any harassment or intimidation against their life, liberty and dignity arising out of their live in relationship, the same is directed to be granted to them by the respondents on verifying the genuineness of the apprehension expressed after verifying their marriageable age in accordance with law and in terms of the decision of the Apex Court in Lata Singh (supra).
