Dipankar Datta, J.:— The petitioner offered his candidature for selection and appointment on the post of an assistant teacher in Geography(P) in connection with the Regional Level Selection Test, 2011 for assistant teachers for Northern Region, which was conducted by the West Bengal Central School Service Commission. He belongs to the category ‘SC’. According to him, the combined merit list showed that he had been ranked no. 719. However, it is his grievance that candidates below him in the combined merit list have been called for counselling and that he has been unjustifiably denied the opportunity to participate in the process of counselling despite attaining higher rank. Feeling aggrieved thereby, this writ petition has been presented.
I have heard learned advocates for the parties. Considering the nature of grievance raised by the petitioner, I am of the view that inviting affidavits from the parties would only delay a decision on the writ petition. In my further view, interest of justice would be best served if the Chairman of the West Bengal Regional School Service Commission (Northern Region), respondent no. 7 gives the petitioner an opportunity of hearing and passes an appropriate order dealing with his grievance within twelve weeks from date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is ordered accordingly.
The writ petition stands disposed of, without costs.
Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties as expeditiously as possible.
