It is, however, made clear that these appointments are being made as a one-time meisure in peculiar facts and circumstances considering extrem: hardships of these
1. (1) This Act may be called the Punjab Teachers Act, 1999.

(c) teachers' means,
(i) the teachers or lecturers or masters or mistresses,who
were regularly selected in pursuance of the advertise

ment, dated the 19th August, 1992, issued who were Department of Education, Punjab, and services appointcd in pursuance thereto, but whose
were terminated on the 13th November,
1997: and
(ü) the teachers or lecturers or masters or
mistresses,who
were regularly selected in pursuance of the
advertisement,
dated the 19th August, 1992, issued by the Department
of Education, Punjab, and who were appointed in
pursuance thereto, but were later on regularly selected
on a lower cadre post having lower pay scalein
pur
suance of the advertisement, dated the 28th December,
1994 and the 12th January, 1996.
3. The appointments of teachers against the advertised posts
shall be made by the appointing authority.
4. The date of joining of the teachers shall be that date on which
or it shall be
they actually join the posts in pursuance of this Act deemed to be that date, after all the selected teachers in pursuance of the advertisements, dated the 28th December, 1994 and the 12th
January, 1996, have joined the posts against which they were selected, whichever is later.
5. The seniority of the teachers shall be determined from the
date of their joining.
6. (1) The Punjab Recruitment of Teachers Ordinance, (Punjab Ordinance No. 3 of 1999), is hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action
taken under the Ordinance referred to in sub-section (2), shall be deemed to have been done or taken under this Act.
