Preamble.-WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the further exten ion of the t1me lor the reLon.utulion oJ the CoftJOJabon Lf the C1ty ol CalJcut, BE it enacted in the Twenty·seventh Year ol the Rlpublic of lndta as followa:- . • :
1 . Short title and commencement.-( 1) This Act may be called the Calicut MW1ac1p4J Cl.)fporauou (~.~~.teu~oaun ol T1me for Recon:,titutlon) Act, 1976.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 7th day of Novemb~:r, 1976.
2. Definiltons.-In th•s Act, "Corporation" and "Council" means the Corporation of the Clty of Cabcut.
3. Exteruion of time for reconstitution of council.-(1) Notwithstanding anythmg coutameam the Kerala MuulCipal Corporation:~ Act, 1961 {30 of 1961) or in any notifiCalion bsued thereWlder, the time for reconst,tuUon ol the: coWlcJl shall stand extended up tv noon on the 1st day of Novemoer,
1977.
{2) The council shall be reconstituted in accordance with the pro\'isioi•S ot the sa1d Act on the lst day of November, 1977. (3)' The term of office of the councillors of the reconstituteu cour:cil shall expue at noon on the 1st day of November, 19tJ2. ·
4. Functions of counctl, etc .• ' to he exmised by person or persons appointed by Golletnment.-(1} All or any of the funcuonfo d the counc1l and of the Ma)or, the Deputy Mayor, the standm~ committees and other committees of tbe Corporauon may, dW mg the mtetval beLv.een the date of commence- ment of thas Act and tbc: date of teconsutuuon of the count-il in pursuance of sub.section (2) of secllon 3, be exerc1sed and perfo1med, as far as may be and to •uch extent as the Government may dtte1 mine, by f!uch pe·son or peJ sons as the Government may appoint in that behalf, and any sucll person may, tf the lJove1 nruent so darect, 1ece1ve pa}ment fo. his services from the CorporatiJn fund.
(2) The Government may determine the relationship of the person or perst.ns appomted under &Lob section (1}, v.ilh the Govtrnment. -----

Asids and lia/fitittes of couneil.-=-Thte Govemnierit .imtil the d~te of reconstitution of the C' unci} in .pursuance of sub-secthn (2) of section 3, and the r econstitutt>d council thereafter, shall be entitled to all the as~ets and be subject to all the liab lities of the Corporation as on the date of commence ment of dus Act and on the date uf 1 ecL nstitut1on respectively. '6. Repeal and saving.-(1) · The Caficut Municipal Corpor.itioo (Extension of Time for Reconstitution) Ordiriance, 1976 (12 of 1976), IS hereby repealed. .
{2) Notwithstanding such l'epeal,. anything done or .any action tak~ .under the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done or taken under this Act.
