to amend the Revenue Recovery Act, 1890 in its application to the State of Assam.
Preamble. Whereas it is expedient to amend the Reven11P. Central Aet Recovery Act, 1890, hereinafter c:i 1kd th:: principal I of 1890 Act, in its application to the State of Assam, in the manner hereinafter appearing ;
It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-second Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
Short title, L(l) This Act may be called the Revenue Recovery extent and Assam Arncndrr.ent) Act, 1971. commence· ment.
(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Assam.
(3) h ~hall come into force ct once.
Jnsertl"n 2. After section 3 of the principal Act, the following o~ new eec• shall be inserted as section 3A, namely:- t1on.
~'C:ertificate Officers to perform the functions of Collector in s~cspect of c·,rtificates "ccived.
3A. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary con• tai r. ed in this Act, when any certificate is receive-:! under this Act, by the Ccllector of a O:strict, any certificate officer in the district may exercise all the powers and perform all the duties and functions of such Collector under this Act, in respect of such certificate.
Explanation-In this section 'Certificate Officer' Benga1 has the same roeanin~ as in the Beugal Public Demands 1 ~~t. II r of Recovery Act, 1913.
