further to amend t h e Indian St amp Act, 1899 in its application to Assa m
Preamble. Wherea.; it is expedient to amend the Indian Stamp Central Act Act, 1899, hereinafter calied the principal Act, in its II of 1899. application to Assam, in the manner he.einaft ·r appearing;
Short title, extent and commence roent.
It is hereby enacted in the Nineteenth Year of the Republic of India as- foJlows :- .
1 • (1) This Act may be called the Indian Stamp
(Assam Amendment) Act, 1968.
(2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act.
(3) It shall come into force at once. · \ mend!11ent 2. In section 2 of the principal Act, after clause (7), of section 2 the following shall be inserted namely:-
1>t Acc II of ' 1899.
"(8) "Chief Controlling Revenue Authority' n.eans · the Superintendent of Stamps, Assam."
