No.H.12018/118/2003-LJD, the 7thApril, 2011. The following Act of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly, which received the assent of the Governor of Mizoram is hereby published for general information.
The Mizoram Board of School Education (Amendment) Act, 2011.

AN
ACT
further to amend the Mizoram Board of School Education Act, 1975 (Act No. 2 of 1976) (hereinafter referred to as the Principal Act).
Whereas it is expedient to amend the provisions of the Principal Act, relating to the pattern of Board Examination in the Elementary level, which has resulted due to changes in the Class structures and to do away with the Board Examinations at Class IV and VII in the Elementary level, with the implementation of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (Central Act No. 35 of 2009). Now, therefore, it is enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Mizoram in the Sixty Second Year of the Republic of India, as follows :
Short title extent, and 1. (1) This Act may be called the Mizoram Board of School Education (Amendment) Act, 2011.
(2) It shall extend to the whole of Mizoram.
(3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of Section 2 : 2. In Section 2 of the Principal Act, clauses (n), (o), (p) and (q) shall be substituted by the following, namely:-
"(n) "Primary School" means any school where primary education in general subjects is imparted to the pupils of classes I, II, III and IV;
(o) "Middle School" means a school where general education is imparted to the pupils of classes V, VI, VII and VIII;
(p) "English Medium School" means a school where general education is imparted through English Language to the pupils of Kindergarten and classes I to VIII;
(q) "High School" means a school where general education is imparted to the students of classes IX and X and prepares students for Matriculation or High School Leaving Certificate Examination of the Board held at the end of Class X".
Amendment of Section 11 3. In clause (ii) of section 11 of the Principal Act, following proviso shall be added, namely -
"Provided that there shall be no examination at the end of the academic sessions of Primary Schools, Middle School and English Medium Schools."
