further to amend the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority Act, Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Guwahati Metropolitan Assam Development Authority Act, 1985, hereinafter referred to as the principal Act, in Act XX the manner hereinafter appearing; of 1987
It is hereby enacted. in the Sixty-second Year of the Republic ofIndia as follows:-
1.(1) This Act may be called the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (Amendment) Act, 2011. .
(2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act. ..
(3) It shall come into force at once.
2. In the principal Act, in section 5, in sub-section (l ),-
(i) for the existing clause (a) and (b), the following shall be substituted,. , namely:-
" (a) The Chief Minister of the State of Assam or any other emi- nent person as the State Government may think fit.to be appointed by the State Government as the Chairman;
(b) Two posts of Deputy Chairman of the Authority shall be filled up by nomination by the State Govenunent by such eminent persons as the State Governmentrnay think fit :
Provided that when there is no COWlCilof Ministers in the State of Assam, the State Government shall nominate such eminent persons as it may think fit, as the Chairman and Deputy Chairman respectively of the GuwahatiMetropoli- tan Development Authority ;"
(ii) for clause (i), the following shall be substituted, namely :.' 0
"(i) The Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (metro) District and Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup District (ex -officio);"
