West Bengal Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Act, 2000*

An Act to amend the West Bengal Salaries and Allowances Act, 1952.
Whereas it is expedient to amend the West Bengal Salaries and Allowances Act, 1952 (West Ben. Act V of 1952), for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing;
It is hereby enacted in the Fifty-first Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:-
Section 1. Short title and commencement
1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the West Bengal Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Act, 2000.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 27th day of November, 1999.
Section 2. Amendment of section 2 of West Ben. Act V of 1952
2. Amendment of section 2 of West Ben. Act V of 1952.- In clause (a) of section 2 of the West Bengal Salaries and Allowances Act, 1952 (Amendment of section 2 of West Ben. Act V of 1952) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act),-
(1) for the words "Chief Minister", "Minister", the words "Chief Minister", "Deputy Chief Minister". "Minister".’ shall be substituted, and
(2) for the words "the Chief Minister, a Minister,", the words "the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister, a Minister," shall be substituted.
Section 3. Amendment of section 3
3. Amendment of section 3.- In section 3 of the principal Act,-
(1) in the marginal note, after the words "Chief Minister,", the words "Deputy Chief Minister," shall be inserted;
(2) in sub-section (1), after the words, letters and figures "to the Chief Minister a salary of Rs. 2,300 per month,", the words "to the Deputy Chief Minister and" shall be inserted;
(3) in sub-section (3),-
(a) after the words, letters and figures "to the Chief Minister a sumptuary allowance of Rs. 18,000 per year and", the words "to the Deputy Chief Minister and" shall be inserted, and
(b) in the proviso, after the words "the Chief Minister or", the words "the Deputy Chief Minister or" shall be inserted;
(4) in sub-section (4),-
(a) after the words "the Chief Minister", the words "and the Deputy Chief Minister" shall be inserted;
(b) in the proviso, after the words "the Chief Minister", the words "or the Deputy Chief Minister" shall be inserted.
Section 4. Amendment Direction 4
4. Amendment Direction 4.- In section 4 of the principal Act,-
(1) in the marginal note, after the words "Chief Minister", the words ", Deputy Chief Minister" shall be inserted;
(2) in sub-section (1), after the words "The Chief Minister", the words ", the Deputy Chief Minister" shall be inserted;
(3) in sub-section (2), after the words "the Chief Minister", the words "or the Deputy Chief Minister" shall be inserted.
Section 5. Amendment of section 5
5. Amendment of section 5.- In section 5 of the principal Act,-
(1) in the marginal note, after the words "Chief Minister", the words ", Deputy Chief Minister" shall be inserted;
(2) after the words "The Chief Minister", the words "the Deputy Chief Minister," shall be inserted.
Section 6. Amendment of section 6
6. Amendment of section 6.- In section 7 of the principal Act, after the words "The Chief Minister,", the words "the Deputy Chief Minister," shall be inserted.
Section 7. Amendment of section 7
7. Amendment of section 7.- (1) The West Bengal Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Ordinance, 1999 (West Ben. Ord. IV of 1999), is hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the principal Act as amended by the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been validly done or taken under the principal Act as amended by this Act as if this Act were in force when such thing was done or such action was taken.
