An Act to amend the 1(Tamil Nadu) Forest Act, 1882

Whereas the appointment of a Chief Conservator of Forests for the 3(State of Tamil Nadu) has rendered it expedient to amend the 1(Tamil Nadu) Forest Act, 1882; ([1Tamil Nadu] Act V of 1882) It is hereby enacted as follows:-

This Act was extended to the merged State of Pudukkottai by section 3 of, and the First Schedule to the Tamil Nadu Merged States (Laws) Act, 1949 (Tamil Nadu Act XXXV of 1949.)

Section 1. Short title

1. Short title.- This Act may be called the 1[Tamil Nadu] Forest (Amendment) Act, 1919.

Section 2. Delegation of powers under the Tamil Nadu Forest Act, 1882

Delegation of powers under the 1[Tamil Nadu Forest Act, 1882.- Notwithstanding anything contained in the Tamil Nadu Forest Act, 1882, the 4[State Government] may delegate to the Chief Conservator of Forests, or to such other officer or authority as the 4[State Government] may appoint all or any of the powers which are conferred on, or may be delegated to, the Board of Revenue or other controlling revenue authority by or under the said Act (Tamil Nadu Act V of 1882).

4 The words "Provincial Government" were substituted for the words "Governor in Council" by the Adaptation Order of 1937 and the word "State" was substituted for "Provincial" by the Adaptation Order of 1950.
