An Act to amend the Andhra Pradesh Rural Electric Co-operative Societies (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1998
Be it enacted by the legislative Assembly of the State of Andhra Pradesh in the Fifty-first Year of the Republic of India, as follows:-

STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS
The restructuring of the power sector, has teen taken up by the Government and the Andhra Pradeah Electricity Reform Act, 1998 (Andhra Pradesh Act 30 of 1998) has been enacted and brought into force. The Electricity Reform are still in Initial stages.
The reform of the power sector will take some ??? time and therefore it will be desirable to elections to the Rural Electric Co-operative Societies only after to fine-ligation of such reforms.
Accordingly, Government has decided to farther extend the period of appointment of Persons-in-charge to the Rural Electric Co-operative Societies upto 31st March, 2001 by amending the Andhra Pradesh Rural Electric Co-operative Societies (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1998, suitably.
This Bill seeks to give effect to the above decision.
Section 1. Short title extent and commencement
1. Short title extent and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Andhra Pradesh Rural Electric Co-operative Societies (Temporary Provisions) (Amendment) Act, 2000.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force with effect from the let November, 1976.
Section 2. Amendment of section 2
2. Amendment of section 2.- In the Andhra Pradesh Rural Electric Co-operative Societies (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1998, (Act 32 of 1998) in section 2, for the words "beyond the 31st March, 2000", the words "beyond the 31st March, 2001", shall be substituted.
