Andhra pradesh act 033 of 1995 : Andhra Pradesh Panchayatraj Laws (Amendment) Act, 1995

Section 1. Short title and commencement

1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Laws (Amendment) Act, 1995.

(2) sub-section (1) of section 2 shall be deemed to have come into force on and from the 26th May, 1995, sub-section (2) of section 2 shall be deemed to have come into force on the 30th May, 1994 and section 3 shall be deemed to have come into force on the 23rd April, 1994.

Section 2. Amendment of Act 13 of 1994

2. Amendment of Act 13 of 1994.- In the Andhra Pradesh Panchayct Raj Act, 1994,-

(1) in section 214, for sub-section (1) the following sub-section shall be substituted namely,:-

"(1) No person shall convene, hold or attend any public meeting in any polling area during the period of forty eight hour prior to the hour fixed for the commencement of the poll in the case of elections to Zilla Parishad and Mandal Parishads and during the period of twenty four hours prior to the hour fixed for commencement of the poll in the case of elections to Gram Panchayats".

(2) in section 278, for the words "within a period not exceeding one year", the words "within a period not exceeding one year and six months", shall be substituted.

Section 3. Amendment of Act 6 of 1995

3. Amendment of Act 6 of 1995.- In the Andhra Pradesh Gram Panchayats (Transitional Arrangements) Act, 1995, in section 5, in the proviro, for the words "shall not exceed a period of one year", the word "shall not exceed a period of one year and six months", shall be substituted.

Section 4. Repeal of Ordinance of 1995

4. Repeal of Ordinance of 1995.- The Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Laws (Amendment) Ordinance, 1995 is hereby repealed.
