BEREAS it ig expedient to provide for the oontinu-w anoe,during a limited period, of licencesof the petition writers in the merged ;
It is herebyenactedas follows 1. (l) ThisAct may be calledthe OrissaMergedTerri.Short title,
extent and tories'. Petition Writers' Continuanceof LicencesAct, 1951. commence. (2) It extendsto wholeOf the mergedterritoriesof thement
State of Orissa.
(3) It shallbedeemedto havooomeinto force on the 13t July 1951.
2. In thi8 Act unlessthere is anything repugnant in the Definitions
subject or contexts— (i) petitionwriter meanso personcarrying on his
as euch under the terms ond conditions of o valid licencein anyof themergedterritoriesof the State of Orissa duringtheperiodfromthe1stJanuary1948to the 30th June 1951 ;
(ii) præcribed' meansprescribedby rule madøby the Higb Court under this Act.
3.A petitionwritershall,subjectto the presoribedrule'Eight tocontinue beentitledto continuehis professionas such till the 30th profession June 1956.
Privileges of 4. Notwithstanding anything containedin any low or petition writers
Power of High Court to make rules
rules for the time being in force a petition writer shall, during aperiodof fiveyearafromthecommencementof this Aot, be entitledto &ppearat the Mukteershipexaminationconducted by theHighCourtin theOriyalanguage.
5. The petition writers shall be governed by such rules as the High Court may fpm time to time make asregards contrd. disciplineand conditionsof their licences.
