An Act
to a mead the Minimum Wages Act, 1'>48 in its application to tbe State of Assam.
Prea~ble. Whereas it is exp~dient to amend the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 (hereinafter referred to as the said Cent r a J Act), in its application to the State of Assam, for the Af ~~8 XI purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing; 0 •
It is hereby enacted in the Fifceenth Y~ar of the Republic of India as follows :-:-
Short title, 1.(1) This Act may be called the Minimum Wages extent · ~nd (Assam Amt:ndrr,ent) Act, 1964. eommc;11ce- mcnt. ·
(2) It extends to the whole of Assam.
(3) It shall come into force at once.
Amendment 2. In Section 5 of the said Act, at the end of of :iec1ion 5 clause (al of sub-section (1), for the comma and the o f Ct ntral word "or" after the word "be", a colon shat 1 be sub ~?~ 94.~~.XI stituted and the following proviso shall be added,
namely:-
"Provided the committees and sub-committees as so appointed may advise the appro priate Governmrnt in respect of fixation of wages on interim measure after holding such preliminary enquiries as the commit~ tee or the sub-commiuee, as the case may be, considers nece>sary in this behalf and the appropriate Government after considering rnch advice may fix the wag-es pen'.:ling the fixation of the minimum rate of wages aa required under sub-section (2) or".
