Pream ble. whereas it is expend ient fu rth er to amend the Assam Ac t Assam Ga nja a nd Bhang Pro hib itio n Act, 1958, herein- "^Xl ef after cal led t he Principal A ct, in the man ne r herein after ap pe ar ing;
It is her eby ena cted in the Twelfth Yea r of the Re pub lic of Ind ia as fo llo ws :—•
Short tit le , 1. (1 ) Th is Act may be called the Assam Ganja extent an d a n c j B han g Pro hib ition ( Am end ment ) Act, 1961,
(2) I t shall have the like extent as the Principal Act.
(3) It shal l come into force at once. .

Amendment 3 - In section 3 of the Principa l Act, in clauses of section 3 l / ') . (r), (d), and («' for the w ord ‘and ’ occuring of Assam between the words ‘gan ja ’ an d ‘bhan g’, the word ‘or’ Act X X I of s hal! be subs tituted . 1959.
Amendment 4 - I n sub-sect ion (1) o f section 11 of th e Principa l of section 11 Act , for th e words and pu nc tua tio n (,) ‘Any Officer of Assam of the Departm ents of Excise and Police not below the
o f ran k of Inspec tor ’, the u prds and the punctua tion (,) ‘Any Officer of the Departm ent of Excise not below the ran k of Assistant Inspec tor o f Excise, any officer of th e Dep ar tm en t of Police not below the ra nk of S ub- Inspec tor of Police’, shall be subs tituted.
