Preamble Whereas it is expedient to amend the Assam State Indus trial Relief Undertakings (Special Pro- visions) Act, 1984, hereinafter referred to as the principal A c t;

It is hereby enacted in the For tieth Year of Republic of India as follows : —
1. (1) This Act may be called the Assam State Industr ial Relief Undertakings (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Act, 1989.
(2) It extends to the whole of the State of Assam.
(3) It shall come into force at once.
2. In the principal Act, in section 3, —
(a) in the proviso, the word " five" between the words "more than " and "years" shall be substituted by the word "ten" .

JULY 18, 1989 955 (2) The existing provision shall be re-numbered as sub-section (1) and thereafter, the follow ing shall be inserted as sub-section (2), namely —" (2) The notification under the proviso to sub-section (1) may , for sufficient reasons be issued giving retrospective operation' '.
