THE MIZORAM (ESTABLISHMENT OF INDEPENDENT LOCAL BODY) OMBUDSMAN
(AMENDMENT) ACT, 2012
AN
ACT
to amend the Mizoram (Establishment of Independent Local Body) Ombudsman Act, 2011 (Act No. 8 of 2011)(hereinafter referred to as the Principal Act). It is enacted by the Legislative Assembly of Mizoram in the Sixty Third Year of the Republic of India as follows :-
1. Short title, extent and (1) This Act may be called The Mizoram (Establishment of Independent commencement :- Local Body) Ombudsman (Amendment) Act, 2012.
(2) It shall have the like extent as the Principal Act.
(3) It shall come into force with immediate effect.
2. Amendment of After clause (e) of sub-section (1) in Section 2 of the Principal Act, new Section 2 :- clause shall be inserted, namely :- "(f) 'Local Body' means and includes Village Councils and Local Councils and any other institution of Local Self Government as may be notified by the Government to be a Local Body for the purpose of this Act." Clause (f), (g), (h), (i) and (j) shall be renumbered accordingly.
3. Amendment of (1) In the Principal Act, all the words 'Village Council' appearing in Principal Act :- Section 2(b)(a) (iv), 2(b)(b), (c), Section 2 (b)(h), Section 7 sub- section (1) (b)(c) (ii) & (iii), Section 7 sub-section (2), Section 9 sub-section (3), Section 11 sub-section (2), Section 12 sub-section (2), Section 13 sub-section (1) & (2), Section 17 sub-section (1)
(ii) and sub-section (2) shall be substituted by the words "Local Body".
(2) In the Principal Act, all the words, "Village Councils" appearing in Section 3 sub-section (1), Section 14, Section 15, Section 17 sub- section (2), Section 18 and Section 19 shall be substituted by the words "Local Bodies".
