ACT

further to amend the Assam Tea Plantation Employees'Welfare Fund Act, 1959.

Preamble - Whereas if is expedient to amend the

Assam Tea Plantation Employees' Wel-

fare Fund Act, 1959 (Assam Act No.XVI

of I960), hereinafter called the principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing:

It is hereby enacted in the Forty* fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows, namely

Short title, 1. (1) This Act may be called the

Commence? Assam Tea Plantation Employees' Wel- ment. fare Fund (Amendment) Act, 1994.

(2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act.

(3) It shall come into force on such' date as the State Government may, by notification, in the Official Gazette, app*

dint. ofSeTtion̂ 12- (1) In the principal Act, in Section

2. in sub-section (2), the figure "500"

appearing in the last line between the words ''Rupees" and "per month" shall be substituted by the figure "1600".

(2) For sub-section (10), the following

shall be substituted, namely—

"(10) "Wages" means wages as defi-

ned in Section 2(h) of the Minimum

Wages Act, 1948 (Act II of 1948) or such wages/salaries as settled by any agree- ment/bilateral agreement between th® management and the employees".
