THE ASSAM GRAMDAN (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1978

to amend the Assam Gramdan Act, 1961. i
Preamb le.
Whereas it is expedient to amend A « am Act the Assam Gra mdan Act, 1961, here in -1 8f1 62 ' af ter called the prin cipal Act, in the ma nner herei nafte r ap pe ar in g; It is hereb y enacted in the Twenty- nin th Year of the Repu blic of India as fo llo ws :—

under the Assam Bhoodan Act,
1965, sha ll also function with effect from such date as may
be specified in the notification as a Gra mdan Boa rd for exer- cising the powers and dis- chargin g the functions he re- inaf ter specified in sub-section
(3) of this Section.
(2) The Sta te Government also may at any time, by a notifi ca- tion pub lished in the official Gazette , dec lare that the Bhoodan Board func tion ing as a Gra mdan Board under the preced ing sub-sec tion shal l cease to functio n as such Gra mdan Board with effect from such date as may be specified in the notification.y
(3) The powers and func tions of the Gra mdan Board functio n- ing under sub-sec tion (1) above sha ll be the following, nam e- ly :—
(i) to issue such directions and guidance to the Gram
Sabhas in exercis ing powers and discharging func tions under this Act,
(ii) t o do such oth er acts as may be necessa ry and expedient for the purpose and fu r- the ran ce of the objects of this Act.

functions under this Act, give

due considerations to the di-
rections and guidan ce issued
from time to time by the
Gram dan Board under this
Act.
(5) The State Gove rnment may, by rules framed under this Act , provide for matters rel a- ting to the exer cise and dis- charge of powers and funct ions of the Gram dan Board under this Ac t." .
