Preamble
University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Act, 1988*

An Act further to amend the University of Health Sciences Act, 1986.
Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Andhra Pradesh in the Thirty-eight Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
Section 1
1. (1) This Act may be called the University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Act, 1988.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 29th September, 1987.
Section 2. Amendment of section 8
2. Amendment of section 8.- In the University of Health Sciences Act, 1986, (Act No. 6 of 1986) in section 8,-
(1) for sub-sections (3) and (4), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely;-
"(3) with effect on and from the commencement of the University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Act, 1988,-
(a) the control and management of all the Medical Colleges, Teaching Hospitals, Dental Colleges, Nursing Colleges, and Nursing schools in the State, except the Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada, the Government General Hospital, Vijayawada and the Centre for Training and Research in community Health Sciences, Maugalagiri (hereinafter in this section referred to as "institutions"), shall stand transferred to and vest in the Government and shall function under the administrative control of the Government, as affiliated colleges of the University;
(b) all the properties, assets and liabilities, rights and obligations, in relation to such institutions and all obligations of the University in relation to them shall devolve upon the Government;
(c) every officer or employee who immediately before such commencement was working in any such institution shall continue to work in such institution as its employee notwithstanding that he exercised the option to be absorbed in the service of the University; and
(d) every officer or employee of the Directorate of Medical and Health Services who immediately before such commencement was working on deputation with the University shall be deemed to be the employee of the Government notwithstanding that he exercised the option to be absorbed in the services of the University:
Provided that the service rendered by any such officer or employee in the University prior to such commencement shall be deemed to be service under the Government and he shall be entitled to count chat service for the purpose of increments, leave, pension, provident fund and gratuity.".
Section 3. Repeal of Ordinance 8 of 1987
3. Repeal of Ordinance 8 of 1987.- The University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Ordinance, 1987 is hereby repealed.
