Preamble

Telugu University (Amendment) Act, 1994*

Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of the State of Andhra Pradesh in the Forty-fourth Year of the Republic of India, as follows:-

Section 1. Short title and commencement

(1) Short title and commencement.- This act may be called the Telugu University (Amendment) Act, 1994.

(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 29th April, 1994.

Section 2. Amendment of section 8

(2) Amendment of section 8.- In the Telugu University Act, 1985 (Act 27 of 1985) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in section 8, after clause (1), the following shall be inserted, namely:-

"(1A) the Pro-Chancellor".

Section 3. Insertion of new section 9A

3. Insertion of new section 9A.- In the principal Act, after section 9, the following new section shall be inserted, namely:-

9A. "Pro-Chancellor.- (1) The Pro-Chancellor of the University shall be nominated by the Chancellor and shall hold office for a period of three years.

(2) In the absence of the Chancellor or during the Chancellor's inability to act, the Pro-Chancellor shall perform all the functions of the Chancellor."

Section 4. Repeal of ordinance 2 of 1994

4. Repeal of ordinance 2 of 1994.- The Telugu University (Amendment) Ordinance, 1994 is hereby repealed, of 1994.
