Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Amendment) Act, 1980*

An Act further to amend the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1958.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Tamil Nadu in the Thirty-first Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

Section 1. Short title and commencement

1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Tamil Nadu Panchayats (Amendment) Act, 1980.

(2) It shall come into force at once.

Section 2. Amendment of section 155, Tamil Nadu Act XXXV of 1958

2. Amendment of section 155, Tamil Nadu Act XXXV of 1958.- In the proviso to clause (b) of sub-section (1) of section 155 of the Tamil Nadu Panchayats Act, 1958 (Tamil Nadu Act XXXV of 1958), for the expression "three years and two months", the expression "three years and eight months" shall be substituted.
