THE MANIPUR ESSENTIAL SERVICES MAINTENANCE (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2010 (Manipur Act No. 8 of2010)
An Act
to amend the Manipur Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1984 (Manipur Act No.14of1984).
Be it enacted by the Legislature ofManipur in the Sixty-first Year ofthe Republic ofIndia as follows:
1. Short title and commencement.- (I) This Act may be called the Manipur Essential Services Maintenance (Amendment) Act, 2010.
(2) It shall come into force at once.
2. Amendment ofsection 2.— After sub-clause (iv) of clause (a) ofsection 2 of the Manipur Essential Services Maintenance Act, 1984, the following new sub—
3|:clause (V) shall be inserted, namely,—
" (v) any other service connected with matters with respect to which the Manipur Legislative Assembly has power to make laws and which the State Government being of opinion that strikes therein would prejudicially afreet the maintenance of any public utility service, the public safety or the maintenance of supplies and services necessary for the life of the community or would result in the infliction ofgrave hardship ofthe community, may, by notification in the Official Gazette, declare to be an essential service for the purposes ofthis Act. ".
