Holdings (Stay of Execution Proceedings) (1[Tamil Nadu] Amendment) Act, 1967*

An Act further to amend the Holdings (Stay of Execution Proceedings) Act, 1950, in its application to the Kanyakumari district.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the 3[State of Tamil Nadu] in the Eighteenth Year of the Republics of India as follows:-

Section 1. Short title and extent

1. Short title and extent.- (1) This Act may be called the Holdings (Stay of Execution Proceedings) (1[Tamil Nadu] Amendment) Act, 1967.

(2) It extends to the whole of the Kanyakumari district.

Section 2. Amendment of section 4, Travancore-Cochin A-VIII of 1950

2. Amendment of section 4, Travancore-Cochin A-VIII of 1950.- In section 4 of the Holdings (Stay of Execution, Proceedings) Act, 1950 (Travancore-Cochin Act. VIII of 1950), for the words *"seventeen years and six months", the words "nineteen years and six months" shall be substituted.

* This period "nineteen years and six months" was subsequently extended by Tamil Nadu Acts 15 of 1969; 19 of 1971; 25 of 1973 and last extended to "twenty seven years and six months" by the Holdings (Stay of Execution Proceedings) (Tamil Nadu Amendment) Act, 1975 (Tamil Nadu Act 31 of 1975).
