In re Hale

STATE OF MINNESOTA IN SUPREME COURT
Jul 1, 2021

Natalie E. Hudson Associate Justice

ORDER

The Director of the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility has filed a petition for disciplinary action seeking reciprocal discipline after respondent Leila L. Hale was publicly reprimanded by the Southern Nevada Disciplinary Board. Respondent was publicly reprimanded in Nevada for failing to supervise a non-lawyer employee who engaged in the unauthorized practice of law, and for utilizing a retainer agreement that provided for an unreasonable fee. See Nevada Rules of Professional Conduct 1.5 and 5.3.

Respondent and the Director have entered into a stipulation for discipline. In it, respondent waives her procedural rights under Rule 12(d), Rules on Lawyers Professional Responsibility (RLPR), and unconditionally admits the allegations in the petition. The parties jointly recommend that the appropriate discipline is a public reprimand.

This court has independently reviewed the file and approves the jointly recommended disposition.

Based upon all the files, records, and proceedings herein,

IT IS HEREBY ORDERED THAT:

1. Respondent Leila L. Hale is publicly reprimanded.

2. Respondent shall pay $900 in costs pursuant to Rule 24, RLPR.

Dated: July 1, 2021
