Allahabad High Court
Jul 27, 2026

HIGH COURT OF JUDICATURE AT ALLAHABAD

WRIT - C No. - 28665 of 2026

Court No. - 1

HON'BLE AJIT KUMAR, J. HON'BLE GARIMA PRASHAD, J.

Heard Sri Gaurav Srivastava, learned counsel for the petitioner and Sri A.K.Goswami,

learned counsel for respondent nos. 1 and 2.

By means of present petition, filed under Article 226 of the Constitution, petitioner

has prayed for following relief:

"issue a writ, order or direction in the nature of mandamus commanding the

respondents, specially the respondent no. 1 and 2 to approve the license of local level

Buddhist guides in favour of petitioners for working over the protected monuments in

Varanasi Mandal, Varanasi."

It is contended by learned counsel for the petitioners that petitioners came to be valid

licensee as guide, and therefore, the Archaeological Survey of India should not

restrain from working as guide at the protected monuments. He further submits that in

identical set of facts Vide  Writ C No. 3527 of 2024  a coordinate bench of this Court

has passed order on 8.2.2024.

Learned counsel for the respondent submits that this petition can also be disposed of

in terms of direction issued on 8.2.2024.

Accordingly, we are disposing of this petition in terms of direction issued by co-

ordinate bench of this Court on 8th February, 2024 in Writ C No. 3527 of 2024.
