No. 351-L.--27th March, 2024.—The following Act of the West Bengal Legislature, having been assented to by the Governor, is hereby published for general information:—

THE KOLKATA MUNICIPAL CORPORATION
(AMENDMENT) ACT, 2023.
[Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Kolkata Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 27th March, 2024.]
Short title and
commencement.
An Act to amend the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Act, 1980. WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Act, 1980, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter appearing; It is hereby enacted in the Seventy-fourth Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:-
1. (1) This Act may be called the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 2023.

(Section 2.)
Amendment of
section 172 of
West Ben. Act
LIX of 1980.
(2) This section shall come into force at once and the remaining section shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
2. In clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 172 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Act, 1980,
(i) in sub-clause (iv), after the words "the State Government,", the word "or"
shall be inserted;
(ii) after sub-clause (iv), the following sub-clause shall be inserted:—
"(v) any land or building comprising educational institutions, administered or aided by the State Government,".
