No. 239-L.-13th March, 2023.—The following Act of the West Bengal Legislature, having been assented to by the Governor, is hereby published for general information:—

THE PRIVATE FISHERIES PROTECTION
(REPEALING) ACT, 2022.
[Passed by the West Bengal Legislature.] [Assent of the Governor was first published in the Kolkata Gazette, Extraordinary, of the 13th March, 2023.]
Short title and
commencement.
An Act to repeal the Private Fisheries Protection Act, 1889. WHEREAS it is expedient to repeal the Private Fisheries Protection Act, 1889; It is hereby enacted in the Seventy-third Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:-
1. (1) This Act may be called the Private Fisheries Protection (Repealing) Act, 2022.
(2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

Repeal of Ben.
2. The Private Fisheries Protection Act, 1889 is hereby repealed. Act 1.1 of 1889.
Saving.
3. Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the Private Fisheries Protection Act, 1889, prior to repeal, shall be deemed to have been validly done or taken.
