THE PUDUCHERRY GENERAL CLAUSES ACT, 1965.

AN ACT
to provide for the application of the General Clauses Act, 1897 for the interpretation of the Acts of the Legislature of the Union territory of Puducherry.
BE it enacted by the Legislative Assembly in the Sixteenth Year of the Republic of India as follows: -
1. Short title, extent and commencement. – (1) This Act may be called the Puducherry General Clauses Act, 1965.
(2) It extends to the whole of the Union territory of Puducherry.
+ (3) It shall come into force at once.
2. General Clauses Act, 1897 to apply to Acts of the Legislative Assembly of Puducherry. – Unless the context otherwise requires, the General Clauses Act, 1897 (Central Act 10 of 1897), shall apply for the interpretation of the Acts of the Legislature of the Union territory of Puducherry (whether enacted before or after the commencement of this Act), as it applies for the interpretation of a Central Act. + This Act came into force w.e.f 30.10.965
