An Act to legalize the levy of certain duties on timber imported into Maulmain.

PREAMBLE

Whereas certain duties were in the years 1864 and 1865 levied on foreign timber imported into Maulmain by the River Sal ween, and whereas doubts have been raised to the legality of the levy of such duties, and it is expedient to preclude such doubts; It is hereby enacted as follows:

Section 1. Legalization of levy of duties

All duties levied between the first day of July 1864 and the second day of August 1865 (both inclusive) on foreign timber imported into Maulmain by the River Salween, shall be deemed to have been levied in accordance with law.

Section 2. Indemnity-clause

All officers and other persons are hereby indemnified for anything done before the passing of this Act which might lawfully have been done if this Act had been in force; and no suit or other proceeding shall be maintained against any such officer or other person in respect of anything so done
