PREAMBLE
Act XLV of 1860, called the Indian Penal Code, shall not take effect until the first day of January 1862, and shall take effect on and from that day.
Every part of the said Act, in which the first day of May 1861 is mentioned, shall be read and construed as if the first day of January 1862 had been mentioned therein, instead of the first day of May 1861.
