ASSAM ACT VI OF 1936.
THE ASSAM RIFLES (AMENDMENT) ACT,
1936.
[Published in the Assam Ga.tttk of the 16th December 1936.) An Act further to amend the Assam Rifles Act,
1920.
Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Assam Rilles Act, 1920, for the purposes herein· after appearing ;
And whereas the previous sanction of the Governor-General has been obtained under sub· section (3) of section 80A of the Government of India Act to the passing of this Act; It is hereby enacted as follows :-
1. This Act may be called the Assam Rifl~ (Amendment) Act, 1936.

THE SCHEDULE.
Statement. (Su sections 3 and 4.)
1. After you have served for four years in tho first instance in the Assam Rifles you may extend the term of your service .in the Assam Rifles to six years and on the expiry of six years to eight years and on the expiry of eight years to ten years, in all cases with the permission of the Commandant, with the option of claiming your discharge at the end of any period of extension of service which you may elect to perf@rm, making your application through the officer to whom you may be subordinate, to a Cornman· dant of the Assam Rifles or to the Magistrate of the District in which you may be serving ; and you will be granted your discharge after two months from the date of your application, uoleM you are on active service or unless your discharge would cause the vacancies in the Assam Rifles to exceed one-tenth of the sanctioned strength. 2. On your enlistment, appointment or train- ing as a musician (Piper, Drummer, Bugler, Bandsman}, writer, soldier-clerk, Havildar-com- pounder or as an artificer (Armouter, Mochi, Carpenter, Stonemason, Motor driver) you must, in spite of the provisions of paragraph 1 above, serve in the Assam Rifles for eight years from the date of your enlistment, appointment or training as the case may be.
3. On your deputation for a specialist course at an Army Training Centre you must sign an undertaking before leaving the battalion to pro- ceed on the course, that you will not apply, in spite of the provisions of paragraph 1 above, for discharge during the four_ years after attend in~ an Army Training Course.
-'· On your deputation to the Educational or Veterinary Course you must sign, in spite of the proviaions of paragraph 1 above, an undertaking to the same effect for eight years. In the event of your re-enlistment after you have been discharged, you will have no claim to reckon for pension or any other purpose your service previous to your discharge. acknowledgment of the
