Amendment of section of Assam Act I of 1923

Whereas it is expedient lurther to amend the Assam Municipal Act, 1923, hereinafter called the principal Act, Assam Act I in the manner hereinafter appearing ; o t 1923.
It is hereby enacted as follows :— 1. (1) This Act may be called the Assam Municipal
(Amendment) Act, 1947. (2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act. (3) It shall come into force at once.
2. In section 16 of the principal Act— (a) for the word “ Crown ” the words “ Dominion,
of India ” shall be substituted, and (A) for the form of oath the following form shall be
substituted, namely:— elected , «“ I, A.B., having been ----- ——j a member of this Board’ a appointed
do solemnly swear (or affitm) that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the constitution of India as by law established, and I will faithfully discharge the duty upon which I am about to enter.”
