An Act to provide foT the further extension l)f the te:rm of office of the councillors of the Th·ur Municipality.
Preamble.-WHEREAS it Is expedient to provide for the further extension of the term of office of the councillors of the Tirur Municipality;
BE it enacted m the Thirtieth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
!. Short title and commencement.-( l) This Act may be called the Tirur Municipal Council (Extension of Term of Oflice of Councillors) Act, 1979
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 30th day of November, 1978.
2. Extension of tenn of office of municipal councillors.- Notwithstandmg anything contamcd in the Keiala Mumcipailtics Act, 1960 (l4cf 1961), the term of office ofthe councillors of the Tirur Municipality constituted under the said Act, which expires on the 1st day of December, 1978, shall extend upto the 1st day of Octol>er, 1979 .
3. Repeal and saving.-(1) The Timr Municipal Counc1l (Extension of Term of Office of Councillors) Ordinance, 1978 (29 of 1978), JS hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding ~uch repeal, anything done or any actwn taken under the said Ordrn..~nce shall be deemed to have been done or taken under this Act.
