AN ACT TO PROVIDE FCR THE CFSSATION OF OFFICE OF THE CHAIRMAN OF SAHARAPADA PANCHAYAT SAMlTI
AND FOR MATTERS INCIDENTAL T H E ~ O
BE it enacted by the Legishture of the State of Orissa in the ~hirty-third year ofthe Republic of India, as follows :-
Short title and comme- 1. (1) This ACL may be d e d the Orissa Panchayat Samiti (Cessation of Ofice ncemsnt. of the Chairman of Saharapada Pawhayat Samit~) Act, 1982.
(2) D shall be deemed to have come into force w~th cffect from the 13th day of August, 1982.
De6nitions 2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise reqwes,-
(a) "appointed date" means the date appointed by the Govcrnmcnt by noti- fiwtion, for the purposes of this Act ;
Orissa Act (b) "Panchaydt Samiti Act" means the OrIssa Panchayat Samiti Act, 1959 7 1960.
(;c) words and expressions used In this Act, but not defined herein, shall have the same meaning as assigned to them respectively undcz the Panchayat Samiti Act.
Cmalion of 3. (1) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Panchayat Samiti Act, the Omco Chairman of Sahacapada Panchayat Samiti holding oEce as such with cffcct from Chairman. the 20th day of May, 1977, shall cease to hold ofice with effect from the appointed
date.
(2) nc powers and functions of the Chairman who ceases to hold office: uflder sub-section (I) shall be exercised by the Subdivisional Officer havrng juris- dlmon aver the concerned bIock until the newly elected Cbaiman assumes ofice.
Orissa Ordi- &pea' 4- (1) The Orissa Panchayat Samiti (Cessation of office of the Chairman of ,,, No, 5 aadngs. ~abrapada Panchayat Samit i) Ordinance, 1982, is hereby repealed. of 1982.
12) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken (including any notsation issued )under the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been done, taken or issued under this Act.
