to f.tiend t he Press (Objectionable Matter) Act, 1951 to the Autonomous District5 of Garo Hills, Lushai Hills and North Cachar Hills in the State of Assam. ·
Preamble. WHEREAS it is expedient to extend the Press (Objec- tionable Matter) Act, 1951 referred to hereunder as "the ActNo.LVI said Act" to the Autonomous Districts of Garo Hills, of 1951, Lushai Hills and North Cachar Hills in the State of Assam ;
It is hereby enacted as follows :-
Short ti tle 1. (1) This Act may be called the Press (Objectionable and extent. Matter) (Extension to Assam Autonomous Districts) Act,
1953. (2) It shall extend to the Autonomous Districts of
the Garo Hills, the Lushai Hills and the North Cachar Hills referred to in Part A of the table appended to paragraph 20 of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution, hereinafter referred to as "the said areas".
Extension of 2. All the provisions of the Press (Objectionable Central Act :\fatter) Act, 1951 shall apply to the said areas and shall "i0sf VI 0J be deemed to have come into force on the date of the com:.

Modifica t1ons.
3. (1) Reference to "the Session Judge" in the said Act shail be construed as referring to "the Deputy Com missioner of the District".
(2) Reference to the sections of the Code of Crimi- • V nal Procedure, 1098 in the said Act shall be construed as 1~~8 referring to the relevant rules for the Administration of · Justice for the areas concerned.
