fur the r to amend the Assam Land and Rev enue Regulatio n, 1886
P re a m b le .— Whereas it is ex ped ient further to am en d the Assam Land an d Revenue Reg ula tion , 1886, hereinafte r called the said Reg ula tion , in the m anner hereinaft er app ear ing ; (Regula tion I of 1886).
It is hereby enacted in the Te nth Year of the Repub lic of In di a as follows.—
1. Short t it le , ex te nt and c om m ence m ent — (I) This Act may be call ed the Assam Land a nd Revenue R egu lation (Amendm ent) Act , 1959.
(2) It shall have the l ike app lication as the Assam Land an d Revenue Regulat ion , 1886.
(3) It shal l come into force at once.
2. A m endm ent o f se ct io n 3 o f R eg ula tion I o f 1886. - In section 3 of the said Regulat ion , afte r clause (1) the following new clause («) shall be inserted, namely—
“ (m) ‘‘Deputy Commissioner” includes a nd shall be deemed always to have include d the Addit ional Deputy Com mission er.”
3. A m e n d m e n t o f se c ti o n 34 o f th e R eg u la ti o n I o f 1886.—I n sec tion 34 o f the said Reg ula tion ,—(I) the semi-colon after the word “be ha lf” shall be su bsti tute d by colon an d the words and punc tua tio n “o r, at the expiry of th at term no new se ttlem ent has been made, until a new settle ment has been made shall be dele ted.
(2) in the proviso the following new clause (a) shall be inserte d and the existing clauses (a), (b) and (c) shall be re-n umbered as clauses (Z>), (c) and (d) respectively, nam ely—
“ (a) the revenue sha ll be liable to revision accord ing to the law for the time being in force.”
