It is here by ena cted in the Fif tee nth Year o f the Republic of India , as follows

(2) It shal l have the like extent as the Assam Land and Revenue Re gulat ion , 1886,
(3) It shall come into force on such da te as t he Sta te Governme nt may, by notif icatio n in the official Gazet te, appoint .
Amendment 2. In section 162 of the Regulat ion , after sub- o f section section (I ), the following shall be inserted as sun- 562 o f th e sections (2) and (3) the reo f an d the existing sub- and^evcnue s e c t *o n s (2) and (3) shall be renumbere d as sub- R e«u la tion. sections (4) and (5), namely 1886.
“ (2) No twithstanding anyth ing to the con trary in any 1 w, usage, contr act or agre eme nt no pri son shall acquire or possess by transfer , exch inge, lease, agre ement or sett lement any land in any area o r a reas cons tituted into belts or blocks in con trav ent ion of the j rovisions of sub-section (1).
(3) Fro m and after the commencement of the Assam Land and Revenue Regulatio n (Am endm ent) Act, 1964 no document evidencin g a ny transa ction for acqu isition or possession o f any land by way of trans fer, exchange, lease, agre eme nt or sett lement shall be regi stered unde r the Ind ian Regis tra tion Act , 1908 if A ct X V I it app ears to the reg iste ring au tho rity that the trans- ° f<£08 act ion has been effected in con trav ent ion of the pro visions of sub-section (2).”
