to amend the Rules for the Administration of Justice in Part A Tribal Areas o f the State of Assam
Whereas it is expedien t to am end the Rules for the Adm inis trati on of Justice in Tr iba l Areas of the State of Assam specified in Pa rt A of th e tab le app ended to pa ra gra ph 20 of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitu tion of India in the manner here inafter appearing ;
I t is he reby enacted as follows—■ 1. (1) This Act may be called the Assam Criminal
Law A me ndment Act , 1953. (2) It shall extend to the Autonomous Dist ricts of
the Sta te of Assam. (3) It shall come into force at once.

Order, 1950, publi shed wi th Noti ficat ion No.SK. 140/49/8, da ted the 25th Ja nu ar y 1950, rule 22B of the Rule s for the Adm inis trati on of Justic e an d Police in the Garo Hills Dis tric t, publ ished with Noti ficat ion No .26 l6- AP ., dated the 29th Ma rch 1937, r ule 1 lA of the Rules for the Regu lation of the Procedure of Officers App ointed to Adm inis ter Jus tice in the Lush ai Hills, pub lished with Notif ication No.2530(a)-AP., dated the 25th Ma rch 1937, rule 21G of the Rule s for the A dminis trat ion of Jus tice and Police in the Naga Hills Dis trict , pub lish ed with Noti ficat ion No.2580fZ>)- AP., da ted the 25th Ma rch 1937, ru le 24B of the Rules for the A dminis trat ion of Justice in the No rth Cachar Hills Subdivision, published with Noti ficat ion No.2 530(c)-AP. , da ted the 25th Ma rch 1937 and rule 2 IB of the Rules for the A dm inis trat ion of Jus tice and Police in the Sibsagar and Nowgong Mik ir Hill s T racts , publ ished with Notif ication No.2 617-AP., da ted the 29th March 1937, the following shall be inse rted as a new rule numb ering 23B, 14B, 22G, 11B, 21D, 24C and 21C of the said Rules respectively, nam ely—
“ Whenever a comm ission for the exa min atio n of wi t ness issued under the prec eding rule or under any law for the t ime b eing in force in the Rest of Ind ia is received by the Depu ty Commissioner, he, or such of his Assistants hav ing the powers o f a Ma gis trat e of the Firs t Class as he may a ppoin t in this beha lf, shall exec ute and re tu rn the commission following the s pir it of the Code of Criminal Procedure , 1898.”
