Preamble. Whereas it is expedient; in the interest of Public Aa1aa Order to furtner arnend the Assam Maintenance of {'9~t ef Public Order (Autonomous Districts) Act, 1953,
hereinafter referred to as the principal Act, for the purpose and in the manner hereinafter !appearing ;
It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-first Year of the Republic of India as follows:-
Short title, 1. (I) This Act may be called the Assam Mainte- extent and nance of Public Order (Autonomous Districts) commence- (Amendment) Act 1970. meot. •
(2) It 'shall have the like extent as the principal Act.
(3) It shall come into fo1 ce at once .
Amendment 2. Section l 3D of the principal Act, as inserted by of section section 4 of the Assa1n Maintenance of Public Order ~s?.m A~~ (Amendment) Act, 1968, shall be renumbered and XVI of sbaJl always b e deemed to have been ren umbered as 1953. section l 3E.
Saving. 3. Any reference m ade to section 13D of the principal Act, as inserted by section 4 of the Assam r,-f aintenance of Public Order (Amendment) Act, 1968, shall be construed as making a reference to sec· tion 13E Qf the principal Act as though this Act hai been enacted with effect from the date the Assam Maintenance of Public Order (Amendment) Act, 1968 was enacted.
