Preamble. W hereas it is expedient fu rth er to amend the G uw ahati M unicipal Corporation Act, 1969, (Assam Act I of 1973) hereinafter called the p rin - cipal Act, in the m anner hereinafter appearing ; It is hereby enacted in the F orty -th ird year of the Republic of India as follows, nam ely:— extent and' 1- (I) This Act m ay be called the G uw ahati commence- Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 1992. ment.

(2) It shall have the like extent as the p rin - cipal Act.

3- (1) The G uw ahati Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Ordinance, 1991 is hereby repealed.

(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, any order passed, notification issued, anything done or action taken under the ordinance so repealed, shall be deemed to have been passed, issued, done or taken under the corresponding provision of the principal Act as amended by this Act.
