P re am ble .— Whereas it is expedie nt to amend the Assam Evacu ee Pro per ty Act, 1951 (Assam Act X I of 1951), her ein after referred to as the principal Act, in th e ma nner her einafte r ap pe ar ing ;
It is hereby enacted in the T en th Year of the Republic of India as fol low s:—
1. Sh or t ti tl e , ex te nt an d co m m en cem en t. —-(1) Th is Act may be called the Assam Evacuee Pro per ty (Am endment) Act, 1959.
(2) It extends to the whoie o f Assam,. (3) It shall come into force at once .
2. A m en dm en t o f Sec tio n 2 o f A ss am Act XI o f 1951 .— In Sect ion 2 of th e princi pal Act, add the following new clause afte r clause ( / ) , namely and the subsequent clauses shall be re-n umbered acc ord ing ly: —
“ (g) ‘Minority Commission’ means and shall be deemed always to have me an t a Commission as m ay be cons titu ted by the State Govern ment under the Ind o-P aki stan Agreement of the 8th April 1950, by notification in the Official Ga ze tte .”
3. A m en dm en t o f Sec tion 6 o f A ss am A ct XI o f 195 1.— In sub-sec tion (3) of Sect ion 6 of the princi pal Act , the following shall be del eted, na mely:—
“ constituted under Noti ficat ion No.RHM .65/50/14, dated the 4th June 1950” .
