to amend the Assam Deputy Speaker's Salary Act, 1948.
Pream ble.— Whereas it is expedient to amend the Assam Deputy Speaker’s Salary Act, 1948 (Assam Act V III of 1948) hereinafter called the Principal Act in the manner hereinafter appearing ;
I t is hereby enacted in the Fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows:—
1. Short title , extent and com m en cem en t.— (1) This Act may be called the Assam Deputy Speaker’s Salary (Amendment) Act, 1954.
(2) It shall extend to the whole of Assam. (3) It shall come into force at once. 2. A m endm ent o f section 3 o f A ssam Act VIII o f 1948.— In clause
(a) of Section 3 of the Principal Act the words “ practise any profession or shall be omitted.

to further amend the Assam Local Self-Government Act, 1953
P ream ble.— Whereas it is expedient to further amend the Assam Local Self-Government Act,* 1953 (Assam Act XXV of 1953), hereinafter referred to as the Principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing ;
It is hereby enacted in the Fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows:—
1. Short title , extent and com m encem ent.— (1) This Act may be called the Assam Local Self-Government (Second Amendment) Act, 1954.
