to amend the Assam Women (Reservation of Vacancies in Services and Posts) Act, 2005.
W hereas it is expedient to amend the Assam Women (Reservation of Vacancies Assam Act in Services and Posts) Act, 2005, herein after referred to as the principal Act, in No. XXIX the manner hereina fter appearing ; of 2005
It is hereby enacted in the Sixty-first Year o f the Republic o f India as follows Short title,
extent and
commencement
1. (1) This Act may be called the Assam Women (Reserva tion of Vacancies in Services and Posts) (Amendment) Act, 2010.
(2) It shall have the like extent as the principal At t.

2. In the principal Act, in section 5, for the existing provisions, the following shall be substituted , namely ' Power to exempt

5. If the State Government is of the op inion tha t in v iew of the specialised qualification or experience required in re spect o f certa in special ised services and posts, it is no t expedient to reserve such services and posts lor Women, or that there is requirement to increase or decrease the percentage of reserva tion for Women in respect of such services and posts, the Shite Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, exempt from reservation o f such services and posts and may also increase or decrease the percentage of reservation, for Women under th is Act, relating to such services and posts from the purview of this Act ."
