Meghalaya act 002 of 1999 : The Employees State Insurance (Extension to the Tribal Areas of Meghalaya) Act No.2, 1998.

Section 1.Short title and Commencement

(1) This Act may be called the Employees State Insurance Extension to the Tribal Areas of Meghalaya) Act, 1998.

(2) It shall come into force with immediate effect.

Section 2.Definition

In this Act.

(a) Act means the Employees State Insurance Extension to the Tribal Areas of Meghalaya) Act, 1998.

(b) EISA means the Employees State Insurance Act, 1984 (Central Act 34 of 1948) and.

(c) Tribal Areas means the areas in Meghalaya as specified in Part II of the Table appended to paragraph 20 of the Sixth Schedule to the Constitution of India.

Section 3.Extension of Central Act Act 34 of 1948 to the Tribal Areas

The EISA shall extend to and come into force in the tribal areas will immediate effect.

Section 4.Validation of action taken before the application of the Act

Notwithstanding anything contained in section 3 of this act no action taken or proceeding initiated under the provisions of the EISA in any part of the tribal areas before the commencement of this Act shall be invalid merely by reason that the EISA as so extended and brought into force by this Act would have had a prospective application.
