The 30th April, 1997 No. LGL.36/96/8. -- The following Act of the Assam Legislative Assembly which received the assent of the Governor is hereby published for general information.

THE ASSAM KHADI AND VILLAGE INDUSTRIES
BOARD (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1997.
AN
ACT
further to amend the Khadi and Village Industries Board Act, 1955.
Preamble. Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Khadi and Village Industries Board Act, 1955, hereinafter Assam referred to as the principal Act, in the manner hereinafter appearing;
It is hereby enacted in the Forty-eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows
Shorttitle, 1- (1) This Act may be called the Khadi and Village extent and Industries Board (Amendment) Act, 1997. commence-
(2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act.
(3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on and from the 7th September, 1990.
Amendment 2. In the principal Act, in section 2, in clause (4), for the of section 2. existing provisions, the following shall be inserted, namely
"(4)(i) Khadi and Village Industries" means the industries specified in the Schedule;
(ii) all or any o f the industries specified in the Schedule to the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act, 1956 and includes any other industries by reason of Central notification or am endm ent issued by the Central ^1955 Government under section 3 of the said Act
Insertion

section.
3. In the principal Act, after section 4 B, the following new section shall be inserted, namely
"Power to 4C. The State Government may, on its own motion or in consultation with the Khadi and Village Industries c u e
' Commission and the Board, by notification in the Official Gazette, add to, or omit from the Schedule any Khadi and

Insertion in
Schedule.
Village Industry or alter the description of any Khadi and Village Industry and thereupon the Schedule shall be amended accordingly."
4. In the principal Act, in the Schedule, after item no. 17, the following items shall be inserted, namely
"18. Agarbati.
19. Service Industry.
20. Textile Industry."
