It is hereby enacted a::i fo llows :--·
1. Short title, cxknt ~md applkalioJJ.---UJ ·rws Act m ay be called the Assam Enhanced Police Discipiina,ry Powers Ac t, 1950.
(2) It extends to whole of As~am an'l applie ~ tu all members of the Assam Police Forces aud Ille Assam rolice ilattalio11 whercv~r they may be serving.

3. Powel's of puuisluueut.- (1) Notwithstanding , a11ything contai11ed . in·:: . section 7(b) ' of tihe Police Act, 1861 (Act V of 1861), any Police Officer below, the~ rank of Sub-Inspector of Polic;:; or any membet of the Assam Police Battali.~.n.,· below the rank qf Sub-Inspector of Police whe shall discharge his duty in a careless or negligent manner or who by any act of his own · shall render himself unfit' ·for the discharge thereof, may be awarded with the following .punishment by the dif[erent authorities subject to the maximum period noted l'ligainst ,cae'h :~~·
(a) (i) Authority The Special Superintendent of Police, Criminal Investigation Department or the Deputy Inspector General in relation to Criminal Investigation Dcparlment.
(ii) 'rlic Superintendent of Railway Poli ce in regard to the Railway Police and Railway Protection Police,
(iii) The Superintendent of Police in regard to the District Police Force,
(iv) The Principal of the Police Training College in regard to personnel under training in the College, and
(v) The Commandant of the Assam Poli ce Battalion, in regard to personnel of the Assam Police Battalion and trai- nees of other uni t5 under his com· mand for the time being.
(vi) Any other Officer of the rank of Su- perintendent of Police in respect of Police personnel under his command.
(b) (i) Assi~tant Superintendent of Police and Deputy Superintendent of Police in i'egard to District Police Force and
(ii) Assistant Commandant of the Assam Police Battalion in regard to personnel of the Assam Police Batta- lion.
· (c) ,Inspector or Sub-~nspcctor of Police !n charge of Circles or T hanas or 111 charge of independent de tachments of the Assam Police Battalion in re- gard to the district ·Police Force em- ployed in the Circle or Thana or per- sonnel of the Assam Police Battalion under his command.
